Characters
多罗菩萨 (Duo Luo Bodhisattva):
Design Goal:
-
A warrior designed to complement Guanyin, emphasizing synergy in battle.
-
Focuses on debuffing enemies and scaling damage based on ally healing.
-
Embodies Buddhist mythic aesthetics while integrating offensive mechanics.
Design concept:
I aimed to create a warrior who synergizes effectively with Guanyin, a powerful healing support. By designing Duoluo Bodhisattva to amplify damage based on the amount of healing received by allies, this character transforms healing into offensive power, fostering a strategic interplay between healing and damage within the team. This design naturally encourages players to consider how to best integrate this character into their team compositions.

Ability:
Applies a fayin to 2 random enemy targets. The fayin records all healing received by allied units. When Duoluo Bodhisattva takes action, the fayin detonates, dealing indirect damage to the target's Spirit equal to 7% of the recorded healing plus 70% of Duoluo Bodhisattva's attack, and clears all recorded healing.
Fayin:
-
Disappears after detonating twice.
-
The damage from a single detonation cannot exceed 10% of Duoluo Bodhisattva's maximum health.
-
Can stack and cannot be dispelled.

Passive:
-
For every 4 detonations of fayin, Duoluo Bodhisattva recovers 2 points of Spirit Energy.
-
Each time an enemy unit takes damage from fayin, Duoluo Bodhisattva heals for 20% of the damage dealt.
-
Upon detonation, fayin randomly splashes to a nearby target, dealing splash damage equal to 25% of the fayin's damage.

朱朱 (Zhu Zhu) :
Design Goal:
-
A defensive character specifically designed to counter the spam use of character Guo Jin and Jindouyun (Somersault Cloud) meta.
-
Possesses abilities that neutralize or mitigate the advantages provided by the Jindouyun artifact.
Design concept:
As the designer of Zhu Zhu, my task was to address the overuse of the Guo Jin and Jindouyun combination leading to FTK in the game. To achieve this, I analyzed the strengths of this combination:
-
Guo Jin: An assassin capable of massive burst damage in the first turn. Her skills target the enemy's front row, and her passive grants up to six points of Spirit Energy at the start, which allowing her to cast two Spirit Energy abilities consecutively, along with a 50% critical rate and critical damage boost.
-
Jindouyun: Allows the character with the highest attack to act again immediately, providing increased damage for Spirit Energy abilities.
The synergy between these two allows Guo Jin to unleash two high-damage Spirit Energy abilities in the first turn, often eliminating the opponent's front row instantly.
To counter this, Zhu Zhu was designed to specifically address Guo Jin's multiple actions, front-row targeting Spirit Energy abilities, and high critical rates and damage. Considering Guo Jin's ability to execute two skills in her initial turn, I chose to implement passive skills in Zhu Zhu's design that limit these specific traits.

Passive 1:
-
When Zhu Zhu receives a critical hit from a Spirit energy ability, she gains 1 stack of Vigilance, up to a maximum of 3 stacks.
-
Vigilance: Each stack increases Zhu Zhu's critical damage reduction by 10%.
-
-
At the start of battle, Zhu Zhu grants herself and allies in the same row Sanctuary. The first time a unit under Sanctuary receives a critical hit from a Spirit Energy skill that exceeds 25% of their maximum health, the excess damage is reduced by 60%.

Passive 2:
-
When an enemy first triggers the Sanctuary effect, that enemy is marked as Zhu Zhu's Nemesis, causing them to deal 15% less Spirit Energy ability damage to units protected by Zhu Zhu's Sanctuary.
